Food Information to Consumers

Food Information to Consumers Regulation

New rules on the provision of information to consumers came into force on the 13 December 2014 (Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 Food Information to Consumers). These new rules replaced the existing rules introduced in 1979 for food labelling and the 1990 nutrition labelling rules.

Food Drink Ireland worked with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) at the time of the implementation of these new rules and produced a practical guide for industry that highlights the main mandatory changes under the new information rules. If you wish to receive a copy of this guide, please contact the FDI Regulatory Affairs Executive.
